Opie and Anthony – Taxes
By: The Stout Republican

June 4th, 2009

Every morning starts with Opie and Anthony (I record the broadcast on my Inno, and play back when I get into office), it’s nice to see one of their better rants make it to Breitbart. Listen, become addicted.

The lines I made reference to here start at about 12 minutes in…and I just realized you can’t fast forward…

Why I Trust Business And Not Government
By: The Stout Republican

May 28th, 2009

Real Business don’t care about color, doesn’t care about sex, doesn’t care about age. Nothing is less important. Business cares about productivity, growth, and efficiency. It cares about profit. And profit is color blind. Real business means the best person for the job. It means filling specific roles with talented people, and promoting those talented people so that they can maximize their potential. The market dictates who is the most valuable, and based on skill sets, and worker supply, differentiation and demand, people earn based on their ability. If people aren’t being treated equitably, then the true free market means that there’s potential for competitors. If you’re capable, someone else will pay more to get that level of talent from you, and therefore be more productive. People are created equal, and live up to their respective potentials and aspirations. Business cares about results. Business is fair. If it’s not, there’s opportunity for competition, someone else to fill the void. Business maximizes resources in their most profitable manner. Business is change.

Government cares about none of this. Government’s idea of equality is not color blind, or blind at all. Governments fill quotas, and makes sure that people are represented by their attributes, and not by their skills in the name of reflecting diversity. Some people must be dragged forward, and some people must be held back. Productivity means nothing…only the act of producing. The end result isn’t as important the the process of getting there. According to the government, we’re created with disparities among us, and government is the great equalizer. Government doesn’t care about the maximizing of resources, it is about the preservation of existing process, jobs, and systems. Government does not take risks. It moves slowly, and reacts slower.

I trust business.

Your Government

Got accepted into Grad School last week. MBA here I come.

Filling out the FAFSA is a bitch, it’s like filing your taxes a second time. Doesn’t help that I also filed my taxes on a Mac using Mac Software, and regardless of what the commercials tell you, Macs are not that user field, talk about a wasted hour spent trying to figure out why when printing to a PDF I’d only have half a page…with intermittent pinwheels of death. So it made getting at my 1040 data near impossible…

So, now…3 business days until I find out how much cash I can borrow from the big bad government.

In international political news…turns out that whole basketball to Kim Jung thing didn’t work out.

The U.N. Security Council was meeting later Monday in New York to discuss what President Barack Obama called Pyongyang’s “blatant defiance” of resolutions banning the regime from developing weapons of mass destruction.

I know, we can just give Pyongyang more stuff so that they won’t do things we don’t like. You know…positive reinforcement. Let’s call it something like appeasement, then we can attach a timeline, and take some pictures, agree to peace, and then start all over again in the next 6 months.

Obama might be the only one who can give North Korea what it wants.

Paik Hak-soon of the South Korean security think tank Sejong Institute said North Korea is “putting maximum pressure” on the United States for direct, high-level negotiations resulting in a “grand deal” that would include aid, concessions and a normalization of ties.

I don’t ever know where Kim Jung got that idea that whining and crying about things you want gets this government to cave?

How To Destroy Obama’s Base
By: The Stout Republican

May 17th, 2009

It’s easy….make it a point to start the argument with how staunch of a conservative you are, then proceed to draw attention to everything that he’s done that George Bush did.

Iraq, Afghanistan, Wire Tapping, Military Tribunals, Trade, Public Funds to religious organizations, etc…

Granted, he’s only like 5% in agreement with our party…but nothing gets the Liberals to eat their own like saying, “I’m happy to see he agrees with Dick Cheney when…”.

“State intervention in economic production may take place only where private initiative is lacking or is insufficient, or when are at stakes the political interest of the State. This intervention may take the form of control, encouragement or direct management.” – Article 9, Labour Charter of 1927

That’s just crazy

The Obama administration has begun serious talks about how it can change compensation practices across the financial-services industry, including at companies that did not receive federal bailout money, according to people familiar with the matter.
