Romney Speech
Everyone’s going to be talking about it today…as they should, it was a damn fine speech. I’m a fan of Romney, though at this point I haven’t really “picked” a candidate to support (I live in Caifornia, it’s not like my primaries matter). Romney has the civilian experience that many politicians lack, and I do believe the Presidency needs some people who know how to operate within or under a budget, Lord knows the Repubs screwed that pooch. Weird to see the “too polished” argument referenced with regard to Romney…Billy Jeff faced the same thing back in the 90’s, and had to make a concerted effort to slow himself down, and take time…even though the brain might be fast enough to keep the mouth moving pretty steadily, the voters apparently like to see some “thinking time”.
That aside, here’s the quote that stood out to me, and others it seems:
“There are some who would have a presidential candidate describe and explain his church’s distinctive doctrines. To do so would enable the very religious test the founders prohibited in the constitution. No candidate should become the spokesman for his faith. For if he becomes President he will need the prayers of the people of all faiths.”
Even secularists got a smack for their religious fervor…against religion:
“We separate church and state affairs in this country, and for good reason. No religion should dictate to the state nor should the state interfere with the free practice of religion. But in recent years, the notion of the separation of church and state has been taken by some well beyond its original meaning. They seek to remove from the public domain any acknowledgment of God. Religion is seen as merely a private affair with no place in public life. It is as if they are intent on establishing a new religion in America – the religion of secularism. They are wrong.”
Could you imagine a Romney/Clinton debate?
In short, you’ll see people far more qualified to comment on this than me…just figured I had a shiny couple of pennies in my pocket, and felt like giving them away…
Poll of WHITE Evangelical Republicans
Pyrrhic defeatists that they are, 55% of WHITE Evangelical Republicans say they will consider voting for a 3rd party candidate if the Reps and Dems choose Rudy and Hillary, respectively, as their presidential candidates. Dam abortion and gay marriage!!!
All because they want to have their religious beliefs as law. Sound Sharia-like enough for you? Many of you know the fact that the West’s system of laws and a largish share of the culture are based on and guided by Judeo-Christian beliefs. Laws and culture BASED on the J/C system of belief, not word for word and not guided on a blind path as some would or would not believe.
This is exactly why from time to time that I am tempted to vote democrat. The Evangelical Right is as moon batty as the farthest left moon bat. Only the far lefties are mostly smart enough to vote democrat (unless totally full goose bozo looney) and not to vote for the socialist candidate or Nader (remember how he was slapped down by the dems last time).
I am big on choice for abortion aka reproducive rights and when we finally get our heads on straight TBKA genetic material rights (oh for the want of an artifical womb, then we’ll really have some fun). I am also big on gay rights. Marriage? Call it what you want it will be the same thing either way. Dumb ass gays want to join the divorce lawyers support group come on down!
It is up to me to influence and defend my family and the people around me so they can make their choices as they believe…NOT religerment.

Obama On Religion Again…
Since I love to point it out…
“Our faith informs our values, and I think we’d all agree that our values inform our politics more than they have over the last six years.” – Barack Obama
Wait wait wait…does that mean that people of faith use their Christian values to inform their politics…oh Barack, you helped me out with an argument I was having, and if Obama says faith informs our values politically, then it must be true, considering he’s the Messiah and all.
Must Be An Election Cycle
Because it seems that the Democrats have found God.
“We just pray that God’s will be done. We pray for the children, we pray for poor people, we pray for people who need help,” she said. “And we always, always, always pray for our men and women in uniform who make our freedom to pray possible.”
“Sometimes you can become fearful, sometimes you can become vain, sometimes you can seek power just for power’s sake instead of because you want to do service to God. I just want all of you to pray that I can be an instrument of God in the same way that Pastor Ron and all of you are instruments of God.”
Obama, or course, said this to an evangelical church. Where are the liberal whiners who love to decry the GOP for pandering to the “religious” right? I think that the liberals are okay with it…because if it means that they can win, who cares about consistency.
Prager and Hitchens
The Jew and the Atheist spank the Apologist.
Link through to Prager’s original article.
Prager is a brilliant theologist. I recommend anyone who has the time, regardless of your political inclinations, take the time to read his backlog of articles on Townhall.com.
Religion and Law?
IMHO this is a single issue that approaches moral equivalence between “us” and “them”…Though “we” don’t do what “they” do to “correct” the infraction the end result attempts to be the same, influence cultural/social behavior of the government and it’s people.
us/we = Judeo/Christian (Bible Interpreters)
them/they = Muslim (Sharia Interpreters)
The Pope says Excommunicate the bastards!!!
We see all of the religious pandering to the “us” here with the upcoming elections…our great country/culture is based on the Judeo/Christian ethic. The pandering disgusts me, shaddup about what you do on weekends or your sacred underware and lead…put up or shut up!!!
Personally, I am anti-abortion and would attempt to prevent it, in any legal/socially acceptable way that I could, for me and my own. For those outside of my personal life I am pro-choice, hey it’s your family and or body do with it what you please and yes I will fund your choice if you cannot afford it. And yes, stem cell everything is okay by me. The sooner we eliminate the technical and cultural hurdles in front of genetic sciences the better. It is only truly then a question of your belief system as to whether or not you participate. Thank about it in the context of “change management” those who manage INEVITABLE change the best win and change is the only inevitable. Survival trumps programming everytime…digression with a point again (sorry…NOT).
So should we let our beliefs color our participation in shaping our culture? A simple yes in putting up or shutting up and because of those beliefs being the very basis our culture is built on. The not so difficult question with a difficult answer is, should we let our beliefs DRIVE our participation in shaping our culture? A simple NO…

It’s Okay When Obama Says Such Things
Bush “talks to God”, he’s crazy and we have a theocracy.
Mr. Obama has written that when he became a Christian, he “felt God’s spirit beckoning” and “submitted myself to His will and dedicated myself to discovering His truth.”
I’m sure the bigocrats who hate Christains on the left have no issues with this? Is it because they don’t believe what he says? Or they don’t believe that he believes what he says? Bottom line. Obama and Jesus…okay! Bush and Jesus…craaaaazy. Obama “submitting to will”….that’s…well…hey Democrats, look over here…Karl Rove is killing a baby…whew…we don’t have to address that now.

Either way…you probably won’t see the seething hatred that normally oozes.
Update:
After being introduced to a standing ovation by the Rev. John Hunter — also a Harvard Law School graduate — Obama danced and sang with the choir and the congregation prayed for him to become president.
Separation of Church and State? Only an issue if you’re on the right.
Abortion, Gay Marriage ?
While pondering RINO’s etal…
I am wondering what people’s opinions on abortion and gay marriage are? The reason I wonder is that apparently those opinions are based, at least partially, on religious beliefs and those beliefs are often times translated into political affiliation and ultimately law. As I have written before many of our laws in the US are religiously based. I will take that even further and say that many of the laws around the world are religiously based. It really is a no brainer when you think about the history and evolution of the human race and it’s various cultures. With Secularism now being accurately recognized as a faith based system, ie a religion, the evolution of all US/World law could be based, at least partially, on religious beliefs. So nothing really new here, religion affects cultural artifacts as in, for my purposes here, the creation of laws. Can we agree, duuuh?!
Now the hooks…
Why do I not care if someone has an abortion? Why can I personally be against abortion for me and mine and not really give a shit one way or the other on what your opinion on it is other than to support/defend that opinion for YOU and YOURS? You make you decisions and have your opinions on it for you and yours and stay the hell out of my personal decisions and opinions. Get it? And no being on the “dole” does not give anyone the right to force their choices on me (operative term force). As an aside, we do have a whole lot of growing up to do in reconciling technological ability and law(religion), interesting times ahead for sure.
Why do I NOT care if GAY people get legally married? Why do you care or not care? Removing another drama, trauma and protected status fringe group from the civil rights guilty dung heap is worth it to me. If only the lawyers would not be getting richer from it…
I WILL NOT SUBMIT!!!
