Bad News From Iraq

November 16th, 2007

According to the AFP (Khaleej Times) Al Qaeda was chased from it’s last stronghold in Baghdad.

“The Al Qaeda fighters fled when they saw us and took refuge in the bazaar, and then in Kam (in the northern part of Adhamiyah). Thank God we overcame them and we now control the entire zone.”

Three Al Qaeda combatants were killed while 15 were taken prisoner and handed over to the Iraqi security forces, according to Abu Abed, who said only one of his group had died “as a martyr.”

“Our men seized 11 car bombs and discovered several clandestine bomb-making workshops,” said the chief of the “revolutionaries of Adhamiyah”, surrounded by armed bodyguards.

Two things that have to sound like a cat dying to the current legion of liberals in congress…

1) The fight against Al Qaeda has succeeded for now in Baghdad.
2) The people of Iraq are doing it themselves.

Oh man, if things keep going this badly, Iraq might be stable, and we might have to withdrawl our troops from the area under the flag of (*gulp*) victory?! I’m saying it again…Liberal leadership does not support the troops. To the fringe left, American patriotism is at it’s plateau when a dissident burns the flag under the guise of free speech, not when a countryman waves it with pride and honor.

The Seriousness of Threats

August 1st, 2007

One of the big complaints early on after 9-11 was that our government didn’t do enough in the months leading up to the attack to prevent it from happening. There was disjointed information about vague threat, planes, flight schools…but our intelligence organizations being as segmented as they were, nothing was shared properly, and those analysts who need the information, didn’t get it all. If the CIA is involved, expect nothing less than…bad. The 9-11 Commission Report covers those shortcomings that our intelligence community had, and the Patriot act tries to remedy them (rabble rabble civil liberties rabble rabble…go drink your cappuccino, access you limitless free speech through the internet, and then complain about how life is so much harder for you now). There’s all sorts of conversations one can have about the wall that was between law enforcement and the federal government (great article by Stewart Baker here).

My concern is we’ve hit the delete button, and some of our representatives, and population for that matter, is choosing to ignore the signs. In only 6 short years, we’ve managed to convince ourselves that terrorism is just a bumper sticker theme, many of the candidates don’t even believe were fighting a war against terror. The new developments today from al Qaeda, involve a vague threat with some vague imagery…but a credible threat nevertheless:

According to the Blotter, the script reads, “Wait for the Big Surprise” and “Soon — God willing.” They’re paying attention to two images from the clip, with good reason: the photo of Bush and Musharraf in flames and the computer graphic of an SUV, which looks to the Blotter to be part of a motorcade. An assassination plot against Musharraf makes a lot of sense given the spate of A-list AQ leaders who have been calling for his head lately as revenge for the Red Mosque assault.

So, is it better for this administration to disseminate this information, and be called liars and fear mongers…or to ignore this information (as we had in the past) because it’s nonspecific, and be called out as failures. Where is the happy medium? Is it possible at all for this President to make a decision regarding the security (Iraq aside) of this country based on threats, and get any credit from the other side of the aisle?

I would say no.

Over at JunkYardBlog, they go over the litany of past threats, some with specificity, some without…and make the point that al Qaeda has a horrible track record for being able to carry out their threats…but as we’ve seen, they only need to be right once.

We’ll see what happens…the dates being floated are August 10 or 11…

As an aside, thoughts are with the victims and survivors of todays accident in Minneapolis.

Just a Reminder

April 27th, 2007

This isn’t nuance…this isn’t “well, I’m not able to understand the question fully without more explanation…”, this is stupid fucking leftists. Pardon the language…but these are the people who want to protect us? (or not protect us) No global war? What box do they live in. Somalia, Australia, England, Turkey, France, the United States, Spain. Do they not read the paper? These are the people who want to lead the free world, protect the American public…with their heads up their asses no less. Hillary’s hand went up first…she gets it…maybe. Obama followed…then two second tier no namers. This will make it’s way through the internet in a few months…but either way…everyone who didn’t raise their hand is out. Done. This disgusts me.

You might not like George Bush, but he’s not the fucking enemy. Grow up you childish, selfish, political opportunists. I will not put my life in your hands if you refuse to believe that it needs protecting in the first place. Right…as if once we leave Iraq, and concentrate on the “real threat” in Afghanistan…they won’t follow us there…like al Qaeda (which “never existed” in Iraq, didn’t follow us there). Ignorant…and petty.

Like Mitch Hedberg said, “I don’t have a girlfriend, but I know someone who would be really upset if they heard me say that.”

Or Kurt Cobain: “Just because you’re paranoid, don’t mean they’re not after you.”

You don’t have to acknowledge them, for them to want you dead.

Sharia is Westward Bound

November 29th, 2006

The UK is finding that Sharia Law is gaining in foothold in their country, and it appears that there isn’t a whole lot being done to stop it.

“Why stop it?”  You might ask.  After all, it is a system based upon the Koran and the law contained therein.  However, there is plenty reason to stand against such a shift in our legal system.
Separation of Church and State – an establishment clause of the first amendment – sets out the fact that our secular government cites no specific religion in order to obtain authority.  However, that is not the case with Sharia Law.  Sharia Law is based upon the Koran, and the interpretation is subjective and varies depending on the country and specific religious school that is interpreting it.  The interesting thing about European Muslims gaining momentum in their practice of Sharia law is that this shift is allowed to happen out of pure fear.  PCers by definition don’t want to offend, and so they allow more than they know they ought to in order to avoid confrontation.  Oh, and they want to keep their heads too, I suppose.  Less we forget the Muhammad cartoon incident in a Danish newspaper.

So, since we ought to become more familiar with this law that might be coming to a city near you, let me enlighten you as to the five Hadd offenses within the Sharia Law:

  • Wine-drinking and, by extension, alcohol-drinking, punishable by flogging.
  • Unlawful sexual intercourse, punishable by flogging for unmarried offenders and stoning to death for adulterers.
  • False accusation of unlawful sexual intercourse, punishable by flogging.
  • Theft, punishable by the amputation of a hand.
  • Highway robbery, punishable by amputation, or execution if the crime results in a homicide.

Oh, and let’s not forget the traditional punishment for apostasy – death.
Let’s just hope those blokes in Britain grow a pair and actually fight the Muslim population’s attempt to morph their religious leaders into the administrators of justice.  Eat, drink and be merry while you still can!

A 1980’s Schwarzenegger Film

September 28th, 2006

Come on…I mean look at him. Hot air of course covers the real story, and I’m here for the useless analysis.

INT: DINGY CELLAR – LATE AFTERNOON

The walls are stone, and in the back ground you can hear water dripping. Behind a wooden table sits ABDEL-RAHMAN, glancing blindly around the room, waving a hooked hand as he speaks. Next to him is a crate of illegal firearms, and “the bomb”. In front of him sits an open briefcase with neatly stacked American $100 bills. Across from him sits a shift Middle-Eastern looking TERRORIST with sweat on his brow.

Leaning in closely, his good eye wandering:

ABDEL-RAHMAN
We will conquer the infidels with Allah’s help….

He feels around until his hand touches “the bomb”.

…and the help of this Holy Fire.

ABDEL-RAHMAN laughs slowly, as the TERRORIST across the table nervously eyes the small window in the corner.

TERRORIST
We must do this quickly holy one, I think “he” is in the area.

ABDEL-RAHMAN
You mean Brian Roberts? (note: This is the generic American sounding name that Schwarzenegger always gets) He has been taken care of.

At that exact moment, BRIAN (Arnold) comes crashing through the window with only a Hacksaw in one hand, and a 9mm in the other. GUARDS run out of the doorways on either side of ABDEL-RAHMAN, we follow the action as BRIAN fires off some very accurate shots, hitting one of the GUARDS in the head, and the other in the neck.

GUARD #2
GAAARRRHHHHHH

GUARD #2 Clutches his neck, and falls slowly to his knees, gasping for air.

TERRORIST
I thought you would never show up…I didn’t know how long I could have kept up this facade.

The now UNDERCOVER TERRORIST jumps out of his seat, and hides behind BRIAN, as BRIAN casually lights a Cigar, blowing smoke rings into the air. ABDEL-RAHMAN stands up, knocking his chair down, hands furiously trying to find something to grab on to, his blind eyes blinking wildly.

BRIAN
I told you, I would see you shortly.

BRIAN laughs, and he slowly approaches ABDEL-RAHMAN with the hacksaw as the camera fades to black.

END SCENE

Oh yes…it’s all here in my pretty little head. Now the soundtrack. I’m thinking DragonForce.

Oriana Fallaci RIP 1929-2006

September 28th, 2006

Some of you are asking, who is/was Oriana Fallaci? She was a journalist and author. I did not know of her or of her works until my research activities stumbled upon an obituary of sorts at Jihad Watch The comments that accompany the recognition of her passing paint the picture of a strong and courageous person.

I suggest that her works have pointed out the obvious, unfortunately to our detriment, the obvious has become politically incorrect. Jihad, The Holy War, exists. It is being fought at many levels, actively by Islamic fundamentalists, passively by the mainstream Islamic flock and across the spectrum between these two extremes.

I ask myself (my meds are running low), why is it that the voices screaming for the separation of church and state right down to sub-microscopic levels, the voices shouting in support of Gay marriage/union and a hundred thousand other instances of exercising their “freedoms”, have fallen silent in the face of Jihad? The Holy War that will make voices screaming and shouting be, in religious unison, in abject terror or not at all. The Holy War that will render their “freedoms” mute.

Think not? It has already begun, the suppression of free communication at a global level. Intolerant of us to speak of Islam, Allah and Muhammad in any manner at all is it not? Even when the infidel world speaks of IAM (which for those of you who are into the bible speaks volumes, and guess what? that sort of speaking about IAM will have to stop) in a positive nature we speak blasphemy, because we are infidel. Allah help us if we treat IAM as we treat other infidels. No worries though mate, Allah’s shirk will help us understand the terror of our ways.

Jihad it’s not just for Islam anymore,

Nothing Really That New

September 26th, 2006

Another leak, another day. National security really takes a back seat to partisan politics, especially when it’s a war situation…why pay attention to lives, when you can leak memos to the DNC…uh…I mean the press.

The Declassified NIE document entitled “Declassified Key Judgments of the Intelligence Estimate ‘Trends in Global Terrorism: Implications for the United States’ dated April 2006″…whew…is more of a fizzle instead of a bang.

Since it seems that the government copy is impossible to get at right now because the web site is slammed, get it through HotAir.com…but don’t expect anything too new. The memo itself is outdated, with reference to the now deceased al-Zarqawi, and offers little new information.

It seems that the claim that Iraq is leading to more violence, which based on the original leak this weekend, is unfounded. The memo makes the very clear point that any act of the United States that shows weakness (like perhaps cutting and running from Iraq) would lead to more violence on behalf of the terrorists.

If democratic reform efforts in Muslim majority nations progress over the next five years, political participation probably would drive a wedge between intransigent extremists and groups willing to use the political process to achieve their local objectives.

Although the document makes clear that destabilizing transitions will created situations that jihadists will exploit…and exploit violently, the point is made:

…the Muslim mainstream emerges as the most powerful weapon in the war on terror.

We need to use this “weapon” swiftly and definitively…we can’t continue to coddle those who walk the line, and are unwilling to condemn acts of murder and violence.

Should jihadists leaving Iraq perceive themselves, and be perceived, to have failed, we judge fewer fighters will be inspired to carry on the fight.

Sounds like a “stay and fight” document to me. I know the Democrats are going to be enraged about it, claim the info is wrong, or that the original memo was changed, but what else is new. If they didn’t have Republicans to complain about, then what would their party platform be?

If the “Jihad” fits?

September 25th, 2006

“Jihad car commercial upsets U.S. Muslims”

“CINCINNATI (Reuters also known as FAKIRS) – A car commercial proclaiming a jihad on the U.S. auto market and offering “Fatwa Fridays” with free swords for the kids is offensive and should not be aired, Muslim leaders said on Sunday.”

I ask the Muslim leaders once again. When do we get to hear about your outrage at the offensiveness of the killing that is taking place under the guise of your religious beliefs? Until I hear loud and direct condemnation of the killing by the fundamentalist pretenders, the true infidels, I can have no respect for you or the Islamic religion.
