Hey, I agree with it going down in flames...and I think the Republicans are whining when they use meanness as an excuse for voting against it...

but...

...there's a reason Pelosi's congress has a 10% rating. Because she sucks as a leader.

Did anyone actually read the measure??

It gave unlimited access to the Sec of the Treasure with NO Oversight.

700 billion with no oversight, and he could spend the money as he pleased.

Here's a little exert from Wiki

He joined Goldman Sachs in 1974, working in the firm's Chicago office for Manmeet Taneja. He became a partner in 1982. From 1983 until 1988, Paulson led the Investment Banking group for the Midwest Region, and became managing partner of the Chicago office in 1988. From 1990 to November 1994, he was co-head of Investment Banking, then, Chief Operating Officer from December 1994 to June 1998;[8] eventually succeeding Jon Corzine (now Governor of New Jersey) as its chief executive. His compensation package, according to reports, was US$37 million in 2005, and US$16.4 million projected for 2006.[9] His net worth has been estimated at over US$700 million.[9] Paulson has personally built close relations with China during his career. In July 2008 it was reported by The Daily Telegraph that: "Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson has intimate relations with the Chinese elite, dating from his days at Goldman Sachs when he visited the country more than 70 times."

What do you think he wanted to do with all that money?

As for Polesi, I do not share a lot of her political views, but i feel her speech was good...

The Democrats blew it.

They have majority...they could have passed it if they wanted.

I think it needed to fail, so I'm happy anyways...it's just fun to see that it failed because the Democrats can't work as a cohesive unit, or pass a bill for the self professed "good of the country" unless it's weighed down with Pork for their lobbyist pals.

Democrats, helping the nation, by failing themselves.

Absolutely many rep and dem representavives had their feelings for re-election hurt by the MILLIONS of calls and emails AGAINST the bailout over the last week or so.

US HR vote count on Bailout

133 reps and 95 dems against
70% rep and 40% dems against

66 reps and 141 dems for
30% rep and 60% dems for

FEEEEELlllings nothing more than feeelings...Nancy knew she did not have the votes. All it would have took was for the dems to stick together (217 votes is all it takes and the dems have 236). Which explains why she did not call the question last week. And why the dems are working so hard to blame this on the reps.

Too bad so sad. The economy needed a realignment after all the easy money that was made and the socialists' greed got out of control.

I have one thing to say to both Wall Street and the Socialists, you made BILLIONS if not trillions of easy dollars off of the consumer. Now man-up and lose BILLIONS if not trillions with us.

Feel our f'n pain! feelings, nothing more than feelings...

Nancy who?

Lan astalem,

GoingThere

ps...hope you're all liquid and taking advantage of the low prices. Remember buy low, sell high!

I'm waiting for GT to start singing 'Feeeeeeeelings' as he always does.

For since they were hurt by Pelosi's verbal poison, Republicans prioritized their feeeeeeeeeelings over everything else.
