Mexican Government an Oxymoron?

September 27th, 2007

Why isn’t anyone asking Mexicans and their “elected” government officials the following questions? For that matter why isn’t anyone asking our own “elected” government officials these questions?

Why do Mexicans want to illegally immigrate in such numbers from their country?

A country that arguably hosts the richest person in the world?
A country that is rich in natural resources (once and future member of OPEC)?
A country that the West has been seeding industry and jobs into for decades?

What is Mexico doing that causes their citizens to risk illegal immigration?

Why do more than 10% of Mexican citizens immigrate illegally?

If the illegal border crossing is stopped and the pressure valve is pegged shut, Mexico’s “government” is going to be freaking out. What would be better is if we could mandate large fees for monetary transfers to Mexico… Finally, government regulation I wouldn’t mind… (temporarily at least) :)
