Lesson For the Day – A Diary Entry

August 6th, 2007

Lesson dated 8/6/2007

Dear Diary: Today I learned that even in Japanese flicks, all of the computers are Macs, even the ones that by all rational standards shouldn’t be…like the ones in a Hospital…come on. This horror flick about hauntings and people transferring their messages from the afterlife via fax is now so not believable.

Thanks Diary…you always listen.

Actually, Hospitals use macs really often, and it’s been the most widespread computer system in the medical field for years now.

Of course medical imagery systems, or life-sustaining machinery does not rely on Mac machines.
However, desktop computers and terminals are often Mac products, and a lot of generalists also use Macs.

    Lies!!! Lies I say!!! (maybe)

The places I’ve been to, and the systems that my brother works on (he’s a systems analyst for one of the big healthcare providers) are built on Windows architecture. There might be doctors who personally have Macs…but it seems that most of the reception/check in/framework still uses Windows.

It was certainly odd seeing an iMac on the desk in this flick where a receptionist is doing data entry. I don’t know any hospitals that would splurge on an iMac for data entry.
