So Now What?
Much to the chagrin of the DailyKos crowd and the Ron Paul supporters…although I’m sure it’s still going to be our fault in their minds…Iran is making moves the reek of war footing. Via Hot Air from the UK Sun:
Last night an intelligence source told The Sun: “It is an extremely alarming development and raises the stakes considerably. In effect, it means we are in a full on war with Iran — but nobody has officially declared it.
“We have hard proof that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps have crossed the border to attack us.
“It is very hard for us to strike back. All we can do is try to defend ourselves. We are badly on the back foot.”
Our Boys picked up the Iranian helicopters on radar crossing into empty desert.
The sightings have been confirmed to The Sun by very senior military sources.
At least two Brit squaddies are thought to have been killed by bombs planted during these incursions into Maysan province — Corporal Ben Leaning, 24, and Trooper Kristen Turton, 27.
A further 44 British deaths have also been linked to the highly advanced bombs, rockets and mortars which originated in Iran.
So what does this mean for the British? What does this mean for the US? If this is true (the fact it’s the Sun Times, where we usually turn to for Babyshambles and coked up Kate Moss doesn’t instill confidence in the fact finding division) then we’ve got serious problems. Although we are still in Iraq at behest of the Iraqi government (like it or not) how do we deal with act of aggression from a sovereign nation. The liberals have neutered us, so we won’t be able to address it forthright with retaliation without people screaming “Halliburton!” and “Cheney!”, and while we “reason” with them, they continue to kill our allies, and our soldiers…which liberals are okay with, as long as we don’t take arms back up against them, then we’re the evil. Avoid war at any cost. Save life at the expense of life. Protect the defenseless by walking away. Guns cause violence, not people…unless those guns are nuclear weapons…then people cause violence.
The Ron Paul crowd would have you believe that this is Israel, this is oil, this is our fault. As Bryan asks:
Have the Iranians judged the strength of the British military based on its most recent close encounter with the Royal Navy? If so, now’s a good time to start worrying.
I think that he’s probably right. We’ve been tested, poked, prodded, and found lacking. We have no backbone. Our people have no backbone, and the officials that had a backbone, have lost the support of the people on tangential issues. The cancer is spreading, the support is gone, and some of the crazies even excuse the fascists. Why shouldn’t Iran have nuclear power? Because they don’t have the checks and balances to not push the button, because as much as some of our elected officials hate the Jews, it’s not our official platform, in our speeches, and ingrained in our very way of life to end their existence.
So what now? I’m guessing nothing. Bush gets blamed for Iran crossing the border of a sovereign nation and killing it’s peacekeepers. Chavez will still meet with Ahmadinejad. Liberals will still hang off of the testicles of the Chavez, even while his men shoot and attack those who would dare be vocal against his policies. The Jews will be blamed for everything. Kucinich will still look like a Muppet washed on hot. There will still be commentary that Bush is worse than Hitler. It’s the end of intellectual honesty. Even I have the intelligence to recognize that while I didn’t agree with Clinton’s policies, he wasn’t the worst president ever. That honor goes to another.
Aside: Will the liberals protect us? I’ve found an answer. It’s time to buy a firearm…I don’t trust my government to do it for me any more.
Screw it all man…enjoy the tunes.

I think you meant this:
http://existingthing.blogspot.com/2006/06/why-own-guns.html
instead of my “fuck that” post…
Stout, Cool music video. Yes all intelligent Americans should own a firearm and be ready to defend their families and loved ones. And existingthing is correct in the choice of a rifle over a handgun. Clint Smith, great American and founder of Thunder Ranch said, (One of many great “Clintisms”) “The only reason to own a handgun is to fight your way back to the rifle you should have never left behind.” Don’t despair. History ebbs and flows but the river flows on.
If we werent a bunch of chicken shits and took our government back – we wouldnt be being “attacked” by Iran.
But, when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.
- Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776.
Before you attack me Stout, arent YOU of age to be serving in the military right now????????????
Before you attack me…you should probably know that I have a physical handicap that prevents me from being able to join…I looked into it. Thanks though.
Way to throw the stereotypical strawman out there.
Surfing is an extremely physical sport. Sorry for being so personal, but the last care package I sent to my freind has yet to make it with all the new violence. He’s on his third tour, and he volunteered to go. That package has baby wipes to get the sand off his face, which he does not have. More so, it has the silly string he desperately needs. He goes door to door and they use it to set off the trip wire at night. Every day I wait for the call.
He actually is glad that the right wings dont enlist. They kind off laugh them off. He said, “It would be like having a World Series of Poker partner that never even played Go-fish before. Believe me, Erin, they would just get in our way. They can go to college and ride our balls. It’s better that way.” Right from a letter.
Takes all kinds I guess…no let me re-phrase that.
I KNOW, !!!it takes all kinds!!!,
and so should you.
People now-a-days…geeze US!
You won’t be,
GoingThere
That a fun story. What are your thoughts on that jcsurfshop?
I did not really understand what Going There was trying to say to me. Remember, I am very intellectual (Ha ha…)
I’ve always thought you were JC, Stout. When i first came on site you did two boo boos and exposed yourself.
That statement you just made Erin shows me how much the democratic party is really off their rocker if they actually believe the troops vote left. If you do a little research on this you might not make such bold claims. In 2004 the military actually voted 80% in favor of Bush. Link One, Link Two, Link Three.
And from personal experience from serving in the Marines 1997-2001 and still having many friends who still serve some who payed the ultimate price, I actually don’t have to research this but I thought it necessary to show you some articles. The left for many years has been trying to get more votes from the military but they have never been successful at it. People Before the 2000 election were making the same comments that you made Erin but how did that turn out? Same in 2004. Show me your research how it will be any different in 2008. I remember my company co telling my dad (who was obviously very concerned about my safety) before I left for the middle east that and I quote “You need not worry because your son is in good hands with us and I completely understand why your position about our commander in chief (bill Clinton) concerns you greatly”. You see democrats have underfunded the military since the start of time. It’s not until a republican president takes over office that the defense budget is substantially increased which means military pay raises, more equipment and so on. I mean we were so undercut in Clinton’s era that of course when Bush became president and the U.S. was attacked and we needed to go and defend ourselves oversees, the military equipment was so bad that it is still taking us to this day to resolve the issue. But lets blame it on Bush why our military vehicle convoy’s aren’t prepared like they should be for todays kind of warfare in urban territory for ied’s and such. I mean armor is not so cheap where you can easily arm 20000 hmv’s and 5-tons. And when cnn says that when we went in of all those vehicles only 250 had the proper armor, you can only blame it on the democrats in charge from 1992-2000 for that problem. Military personal aren’t stupid and we know of such things all to well and that is why we vote republican for our own safety (country, troops and civilians).
Nope…I’m not JC…this isn’t a concerted effort on my part to develop a comment conspiracy against you…
JC is a beer drinking buddy who used to be my boss back when I worked pizza in my early college years. Although we do share the same initials, and first name.
ME – http://myspace.com/stoutrepublican
HIM – http://profile.myspace.com/61759126
As fun as conspiracies are…they’re seldom factual.
I didnt think it was a conspiracy… And JC – nice rant – but my Army buddy IS a Republican. I didnt say Republican – I said right wings. He is an Abe Lincoln Republican. You know, that oen guy that STARTED the Republican party??? Nice of you to bow out of the military right before the war started. The people I know re-enlisted to fight.
Hey Stout, I take that back, it is a conspiracy – THERE IS MEDICATION AVAILBLE FOR SPLIT PERSONALITIES. Ha ha
Wow…you’re downright mean.
I thought that because on my first few blogs I told JC that the surf was upabout something. You answered under Stout and said I insulted you. The the other with the Jeremy bit. But I did not know you had the same first name. The original reason was why I thought you were one in the same. Too much Guinness can do that to you sometimes. Captain and I had a pretty good date last night oursleves.
Hey, dont dish it out if you cannot take it. Not really you Stout, I think you are all right. That’s what I think of JC
That is how liberals do there thing to make them feel better about themselves. I thought they were the party of peace not aggression. I guess I was wrong!
Oh, and JC… I know you dont serve anymore. But it just happened to be Military Day at Sea World when I was there recently. If you were still in the loop – THEY HAVE NO SUPPLIES, ARE LIVID ABOUT THE CONTRACTORS. They were everywhere. All saying the same thing! They are trying against all odds against them to liberate and free people. That was what they were told to do there, and they are trying their damndest to do it! The only support I ever see for the troops and the insight into the good things that are happening there are on REALLY REALLY liberal news. Things you cannot get on regular TV, just sattelite. Did the Hannityville Horror ever offer a free book of the military taking pics giving Iraqi kids candy and rescuing people? NOPE!!!!!
I am still waiting for a real reply Erin. Not one of your personal attacks.
I thought they were the party of peace not aggression. I guess I was wrong!
u Um – YEAH!!!! Who started and ended WWI and II. Dems! I mean real Dems, Truman and FDR. There have not been any bad asses like them since Eisenhower. Maybe, just maybe BECAUSE THEY ARE COMMANDERS IN CHIEFS WHO HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN INDIANS BEFORE?? GO FIGURE!!!
What reply were you looking for? One where I tell you what you want to hear? Keep looking. I despise Bill Clinton, I always have. That is total crap that they cannot supply the troops. You dishonor their actual service by even saying such hog wash
Are you kidding me about the really really liberal news bit?! LMAO!!!! That must be the only news you watch then. So who is really out of the loop. You must not of read my comment yet or you read only what you wanted to read (typical).
No, I read it. I even read it again looking for a question you may have had for me. Dont you get it? This is so far beyond political parties… Do you know what scares me? That Clinton will win that nomination. Man – you got me all wrong. if you think I identify myself with any Democrats right now besides maybe Byron Dorgan…
As for “liberal media.” No, I do not watch mainstream media very much. I do not even want to hear about Ann Coulter or Paris Hilton, or watch that phony CNN pretend to be soooo liberal. I listen to Miller, Prager, Savage (My fav), and Gallagher. Medved, but not by choice, by time frame. I LOVE Greg palast and Bill Maher. I read a lot of books. The best liberal news program is LINK TV. Not that they are really liberal. They just have news programs from all over the world and it is cool to see different perspectives.
I was there Erin. Where you? I knew when we would get money and when we didn’t because I was working with logistics and intel though I personally was a anti tank gunner and lav vehicle commander. So you really shouldn’t go there about saying things like dishonoring when you really have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. You may think you do but if you weren’t there then maybe you should rethink about your comments. The military was always underfunded when I served. I never said they couldn’t supply. Never!!! The government under a democrat was more than capable of supplying us but they didn’t. For eight whole years! So much so that now that we are in war, almost the whole defense budget is going to just fighting, and resupplying (I am talking about better equipment) is not as easy as you make it out to be. And contractors is a different topic so please stay on track. And if all you can do is make personal attacks on someone then that goes to show how good you really are at being a journalist.
Sorry if I mistook you about being a liberal or a democrat. You must see from my perspective why I would think that. You are one of a kind.
Sooooo….Live Free or Die Hard….good movie huh.
And contractors is a different topic so please stay on track.
THIS HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH IT!
I am both a liberal and a Democrat. But the same way my Republican Army guy thinks right wingers are not real Republicans, I do not think left wingers are real Dems. You may have been there then, but you are not there now. So, if I am not qualified to comment, how can you be either.
You are so funny Stout…
Just so I am not accused of wimping out like a liberal. I gotta run. Toddler up from her nap. if I dont keep an eye on the kiddies, they will rob you in ten years!!
Hammer away, I will drill later… Oh, when I said Stout was funny, I really meant it. It looked sarcastic when I read it back…
“And if all you can do is make personal attacks on someone then that goes to show how good you really are at being a journalist.”
Call the ACLU, they help people who get their feelings hurt easily. Republicans are always bitching and moaning that someone calls them names etc, but did WE invent “cut and run” or Defeatocrats???? CU later
Do you have Attention defficit disorder Erin? All your arguments are fallacies and bear no meaning to anyone other you and your party. I feel very sorry for you but more so for this country who have people like you who wish for nothing less then complete failure for this country even if it means that we can no longer be called American. All of the blood spilled to get this country to where it is at today didn’t come from fear of the enemy or for that much people with the same idealogy as yourself. And that is where I stand and where I will leave it for now. “There is none so blind as those who refuse to see the truth”.
“All of the blood spilled to get this country to where it is at today didn’t come from fear of the enemy”
Yes. Yes. Yes. That’s why we kicked ass in WWII and became a superpower. Because a certain man from “my” party said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” Your cowgirl tells us – “all we have is fear… It’s a ‘dangerous’ world and in it is the ‘Axis of Evil’” Iraq was sold on lies and fear. It’s like throwing shit on the world (FEAR) and now Bush is trying to sell us relief from the flies…
Call ME a conspiracy theorist; YOU are buying into the biggest conspiracy. “They want to destroy our freedoms and way of life.” Because it is not on the nightly news, then I’m just a liar. That’s EXACTLY what they want you to believe.
When Dan Rather was fired from CBS for the Bush AWOL story, Summer Redstone, CEO of Viacom said – right before the 2004 elections, “From a Viacom standpoint, the election of a Republican admin is a better deal. Republicans stand for many things we believe in, like deregulation and so on… I vote for Viacom. A Republican administration is better for media companies than a Democratic one.” Hence, the big story about AWOL Bush was dropped, and Rather being fired was the big Cohuna.
“There is none so blind as those who refuse to see the truth”. AMEN BROTHER!! Above is the result of the Telecommunication’s Act of 96, and you are a perfect patsy.
You have your panties all in a bunch because I’m “being mean.” You have done nothing but personally attack me since day one. You are still attacking me as a Dem, not personally. Look at how differently you treated me when you thought that “maybe” I wasn’t one. That attitude is the reason this empire is falling.
“Do you have Attention deficit disorder Erin?” No, do YOU? Have you ever seen a documentary from the king of Moveon.org, Robert Greenwald, called “Iraq for Sale: The War Profiteers?” This is what real real liberals news does to support the troops, and he was asked to testify before Congress last May. Now, wouldn’t the “liberal” media have been all over that story? The hearing wasn’t even on CSPAN. And, the Republicans on the committee voted to allow the hearing as long as the documentary could not be viewed in it. Why not?
“Be patriotic to your country always… and to your government when it deserves it.” Not the other way around JC…
“I feel very sorry for you but more so for this country who have people like you whose ignorance will ensure nothing but complete failure for this country even if that ignorance means that we can no longer be called American.”
“And that is where I stand and where I will leave it for now.”
I’m still thrown for a loop over the fact you got on my case for not being in the Military, when I have a “handicap”…and then you got on JC’s case for being in the military, but not when you think he should have been. Then you cite Dan Rather as a pariah for his “news”?
I listen to you bray (political party pun)…but I have a theory…and it’s similar to most people of your breed who I’ve had conversations with.
You have a conclusion first, and then pick the “facts” to support that conclusion (much like Dan Rather…the story was true…even though the evidence wasn’t…blah blah blah). Most “open-minded” people like to look at the facts and let those take them to the conclusion, but you adopt the “working backwards” methodology.
Most “open-minded” people like to look at the facts and let those take them to the conclusion, but you adopt the “working backwards” methodology.
What a load of crap Stout. Our views are different. So that’s why we will look at the same information and come to different conclusions. At least I can admit that. Well, I would not know about you – have you ever read any of the information I have provided to say why I come to those conclusions? I would bet NOT. So,who’s calling the kettle black here???
As for serving, I just think it’s rude to sit here and ride the military coat tails and call the rest of us weak and pussies – when you arent there either. I am sorry you have a handicap, what is it? As for JC – especially him – he has NO ROOM to talk. Sorry, but I despise hypocrisy. He wasnt even emlisted to know what Bush gave for supplies or not.

Since you obviously know what supplies Bush gave the troops, why don’t you share the information by citing your sources huh. Isn’t that what you have to do for a living anyways being a journalist? Talk about hypocrisy! And when did I call you a wuss? I have loads of resources to back up my statements and I already have presented some of them. And for your info, my eas was Nov 3 2001 so you do the math on who my commander in chief was during my service. I do know that I got a pay raise in June 2001 while staying the rank of e-4 (corporal). I never got a increase in wages under a Dem. And you have no right to denigrate my service whatever date I got out and I sure the hell don’t have to justify with you my reasons for honorably leaving the military after 4 years of exceptional service. I guess my humanatarian operation in East Timor doesn’t count or my 3 months in the Persian Gulf region for a threat made by Saddam in 1999 as well because it just didn’t happen in 2003 because God blessed me with not having to lift my rifle to somebody’s head and take their life. Is that what I would of needed to do to be cool in your book? Who the hell do you think you are. You have proven to me that you are a nobody. A government freeloader who is riding the “military coat tail”. I know that as soon as Clinton’s reign of error ended, money started to flow into the military and I would like to see you prove me wrong. Oh I forget that you were there. What the heck am I talking about?
Lets see what kind of response you pull out of your ass now. I am sure it will stink like all the rest of your hogwash comments these past 2 days.
Oh and Erin, Your very welcome for me volunteering my life in the marines to protect people like you and vow to keep you safe and free to say bullshit like you have been.
I truly am sorry that I upset you JC. I really am, it was wrong. I am not a journalist, I dont get a penny for what I do. I do it because I think being in the military is an honorable position – a very honorable one- and if I am wrong for standing up for them and being upset that the president treats them like the people who cut his grass and cook his food, then I guess I am wrong. These investigations have been conducted by the Democratic Policy Committee – there is a website, with Halliburton knowingly giving Marines water with e-coli, and having a huge superbowl party and expensing it to military personnel. If it had been for real military personnel, i would have gladly been fine with it, but it wasnt for them. Sayign they were feeding thousands more than they did.
“9/11: Press for the Truth.”

“Real Time with Bill Maher.”
“Frontline”
“The Army Times.”
I would gladly when I have more time tell you where I got all the information I have
I am truly sorry, that was very rude what I said. I just think the people that WERE there have a duty to be the first in line defending them. I get really uoset when they dont. It doesnt make what i told you right, but it’s why I said what I did.
JC, This is probably THE BEST site. There is a book too, but you can read the whole time line on the web.
Link Here
It is over 7,000 mainstream media articles world wide that are compiled together to put the whole thing together. It’s very good…
John Johns was on CSPAN (at one in the morning) and he said that the military has to do what the commander in chief says, its right. But it’s up to the retired and former military to stand up for them NOW. He said the only reason it’s really like Vietnam is because of the Pentagon Papers, where it revealed another 125,000 troops were sent when they knew the war was lost – “70% of the reason to ’save face.” We cannot ket another American die because the administration mismanaged the war, now its too late – and they want to “save face.”
my 3 months in the Persian Gulf region for a threat made by Saddam in 1 99. See, i heard the same thing. I heard he was threatening to drill more oil than OPEC woudl allow him to and flood the market. Go to vote-smart.com (or maybe org.) Go to HR4811. It did not pass thru the Senate, but see what it says:
Bill Number: HR 4811
Issue: Appropriations
Date: 07/13/2000
Sponsor:Rep Sonny Callahan [AL-1
IRAQ OPPOSITION
SEC. 575. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, of the funds appropriated under the heading `Economic Support Fund’, not to exceed $10,000,000 may be made available to support efforts to bring about political transition in Iraq, of which not to exceed $8,000,000 may be made available only to Iraqi opposition groups designated under the Iraq Liberation Act (Public Law 105-338) for political, economic, humanitarian, and other activities of such groups, and not to exceed $2,000,000 may be made available for groups and activities seeking the prosecution of Saddam Hussein and other Iraqi government officials for war crimes: Provided, That none of these funds may be made available for administrative expenses of the Department of State.
Now look what Sonny Callahan does for a living. How can I trust an administration that told us we went ot war with Iraq because of 9/11 when the facts say otherwise? You see why I am just a tad freaked out?
Erin – adjusted the link in one of your comments, it threw off the formatting.
Thank you Erin. Apology accepted as well if you can forgive me for personally attacking you and your opinions. Thank you for some resources. To show that I am “open minded”, I will look at some of them, that is the ones that I have not looked at yet. Seen Iraq for sale. Fun chatting with you.
JC, need your help. I have been trying to dig into the defense cuts Clinton made. Guess what I found? I went into that vote-smart.org and all the defense cut proposals were made BEFORE Clinton. The problem is, the site only gives us access from Clinton on. It will tell you what the bills were titled, but it when you try to click it says, Page no longer available. We need to find out who proposed these defense budget cuts while HW was still in. According to my research – there werent any made during Clinton, they were actually added. Before and at the begginning of the war, Bush spent around 3.5% on defense, and during Clinton, he spent over 5. Hey, I cannot stand Clinton, but I am truly trying to put this all together and he is coming out smelling like roses. I KNOW this is not what I want to accomplish – so i can guarantee you don’t. We need to figure this out. Email me at erb7@sbcglobal.net
HW cut budget. Clinton cut budget. I hate the shell game of “but such and such did it more”. I won’t play the game of saying person A is good because person B is worse.
I’m assuming HW trimmed the budget because the cold war was over.
Stout, I agree with you. JC gave me information, and I was not talking out of my tail when I said I would research the information, that’s all.
Trust me, I have no interest in furthering the Clintons!
As much as I disagree with the Clintons, their Kid seems to have her head on straight. For all their faults, they seem to have done one thing well.
