I don’t even know what they’re planning on catching. You can bait the hook, but it does no good if you’re tossing the line into the wrong lake.

Ya feel me. Know what I’m sayin’.

All I know about Ron Paul is that he will be an also ran in 2008 (reality sucks depending on your point of view), a potential spoiler, and has struck a chord with a portion of conservative voters.

These are not comments on his character or validity as a candidate. I submit that his positions and his supporters are good things for the election selection process. He is very good at calling the kettle black. What to do knowing that, the kettle is black, is where we part ways.

For as smart as our government is supposed to be, elected and bureaucratic, with all the think tanks and lessons learned, at times we still blunder along. Or at least apparently so to those that think simple moments of 1st world logic or kum-ba-yah rule. 1st world logic and kum-ba-yah don’t work all the time in the 1st world how can they work with any assurance of outcome in the 2nd and 3rd world countries? Sometimes you have to take the hit or honor the threat ie; make difficult decisions and take even more difficult actions.

And remember (a Marshall McLuhan moment), we are the politicians. Sometimes when I re-read something that I wrote or read something written by someone else I wonder just how stupid we can be? Who are we to participate in electing our government, be that government, and then hold ourselves up as being smarter than “THEY” are?

We are just people and flawed (Sunday homage, sue me). We believe what we want when we want to regardless of facts or reality. As always, passion rules reason…

This Ron Paul reminds me a whole lot of Ross Perot. I think he will run as an independant in the end and scoop in millions of votes. I am not saying I am voting for him, that is what i think will happen.

I am so sick of these cowards who keep saying that Ron Paul might speak truth, call things how they truly are, “calling the kettle black”, but then say that he has no chance to be elected so why support him or speak for him.

What is the point of a republic? To let big machine politicans abuse the system and gain control. If you think the man speaks truth then support and speak out for him. Why are people scared to have power given back to them instead of dead promises that the government will take care of you. You sound like a bunch of premature nursing home residents.

    Go Ron Paul.

Because, David…he has no chance of winning. If he were running as a Democrat, that might be different. But he’s not. He’s running as a symbol. He’s running as an example. He’s running as the Republican-That-Should-Be (in the eyes of enough).

He’s not running as a candidate and, unfortunately, in a Republic, we can only vote for candidates.

P.S. What’s a premature nursing home resident? A common American? If you’re saying we should be standing up instead of sitting in our unnecessary wheelchairs, then please tell us what you are doing as The Example so we can follow suit.

    Vote your conscience.

If there is no candidate that fully satisfies your conscience, then vote for the person that sends the message that you are dissatisfied with your choices.

Existingthing, that’s a nice idea. But, I don’t believe in consciences. Might as well ‘vote your soul’. I know there are hearts, and I know there are minds…so I guess I’m limited in my options.

Ah, then again…I know you weren’t speaking literally. After all, what the heart represents when one speaks of ‘hearts and minds’ is figurative itself.
