Stout, I will grant you that I'm convinced such lefties are out there. You say that for these people that they wish death on some of those republicans is "simply because of their politics," but though I believe their politics are relevant in this regard, I think it's what actions those people's politics lead to rather than the politics themselves.

I hate seeming to defend these leftist hypocrites, with their supposed compassion being overshadowed by their death wishes against anyone, but as far as I can tell, they seem to wish death only on those whose actions have led to other people's deaths. I'm sure you will find an exception here or there, but for the most part, I believe these leftists judge those who commit indirect murder for what's viewed by the general left as uncalled for.

But I must point out that the lefty nutjobs that make these desires clear are equal in their namelessness as the righties that blog the same sentiments about leftist leaders they have a problem with. I've yet to hear a famous/infamous leftist make such a statement, so I don't think the left should be generalized by the nameless minority they represent for their own politics.

The phrase Bush used to the terrorists of the world, "Bring it on," can't be seen as him saying "Let's all fight and include murdering eachother in the fight," but that phrase asked for exactly that, in the guise of being tough. As Barack Obama recently said, We need to be tough and smart, not tough and dumb.

I know, not the keenest statement ever...holds nothing against Mark Steyn, but the point makes sense.

Yes there is a difference PR. Folks on this side usually don't have a "seething" hatred for people. I've personally had long friendships broken, and been told the world would be better if all my "fascist" kind die, simply because I vote Republican. I can deal with it...but what's bothersome, is no one said a word to defend me when such things were said. Now imagine their tolerance if I had called her (a lesbian) a fag and wished her dead. Needless to say...I at the least would have been asked to leave. What upsets me, and has always upset me about these things is the double standard...Yes, we dislike choices, we think Clinton was a bad president, we don't like Pelosi's values, but we try to place humanity first above that "seething hatred"...and while you may not wish death on people, or think that Republicans are wishing death on people...evidence is out there many on the left do.

I understand that you might not be that extreme...but will you grant me that many on the left...especially the mainstream accepted places for left discourse on the web, have little qualms about wishing death on people they do not know personally, simply because of their politics.

This is one time I wish that those in the wackjob wing of the liberal left were right, I wish the republicans actually had the intestinal fortitude to do something so extreme. What happened to the good old days when those in power were willing to use it. I mean Putin knows how to do it in Russia. Like "M" said in Casino Royale "God, I miss the cold war"
Unfortunately in the world where reality rules (this one for my post-modern friends), republicans have neither the criminal contacts nor the will to attempt such a bold stunt. Our prayers are all we can offer to the situation at hand.

Sorry red, I was referring to Stout and something he said. If he's curious to know what I was talking about, I'll be happy to clarify the small point and will pretend it's not wasting anyone's time due to it's size.

But for you? Sorry, as far as I know, you're a cat that walked across a keyboard hitting a magically coincidental set of keys.

There is a difference.

Sure the point I’m trying to make is small. A point as small as a period. But as any married man will tell you, periods can be a force to be reckoned with.

-----------------------------

You say you have a miniscule point in there. I really can't see it. Could you somehow make it bigger so we could discuss it?

I imagine it'll be very difficult for you to believe me when I say that I am not supporting the death of any of the righties you mentioned as being voo-dood against by the lefties at KOS or DU, but there is a difference between folks who have a seething hatred for them vs. folks who don't have a seething hatred for Tim Johnson.

Nobody knows him very well, he hasn't been on anyone's hitlist because he hasn't made any comparable headlines to the likes of Rove, Bush, etc.

Sure, some conspiracy leftists might assume that some people on the right want him dead, but none of them believe it's because those mustache-twisting righties hate the guy. It's for the reason we're all already aware of. It's not personal. With Rove, Bush, Cheney and the gang, it IS personal...to them.
