Dissension in the ranks
This started as just a comment on SR’s post concerning his hatred of repubs, but got too long and link filled. So I abused my administration privileges and posted straight to the front page. Mmmm, power tastes good, now I understand why Stout’s shirt collars are so streched.
For starters, I like Mel Gibson in Israel though, keep those damn Jews in line…plus he’s dreamy. But as far as Mel Martinez? After reading the bill you’ll see that it’s much more along the lines of Bush’s guest worker plan (which was also touted as an amnesty bill by most John and Ken listeners) than the soft stance Michelle Malkin would have you think it is. From what I read it seemed reasonable enough: fines and back taxes are paid, a wait time must be completed (crime free and taxes paid throughout), and then finally you can apply for citizenship. Maybe I’m not seeing the issue here? Here’s a review on his stand on some other important-to-republican issues a la The Wikipedia.
- Economy: Supports free trade generally; supports tax cuts; advocates lowering regulation of employers and reducing liability insurance burdens.
- Education: Supports No Child Left Behind Act; advocates more standardized testing; supports school voucher programs; supports English-only education.
- Environment: Supports funding state conservation preservation funding without raising taxes; supports opening up maximum amount of Forest Services federal land for hunting and shooting sports; supports “voluntary incentives” legislation to make it easier for private landowners to set aside land for hunting, shooting, and conservation purposes.
- Foreign Policy
- Cuba: Critical of Cuba’s human rights record; supports tightening travel and strengthening the economic and trade blockade against Cuba; supports U.S. government funding of persons in Cuba who are opposed to current Cuban government; opposes foreign aid to countries that oppose U.S. policies; Advocates closure of Guantanamo Bay detainment camp
- Iraq: Supports the Bush Doctrine, but has asserted that the U.S. erred in hastily dismantling the Iraqi Army
- Israel: Supports Israeli self-determination; supports close ties between U.S. and Israel
- Health care: Supports private Medicare and Social Security accounts for new workers; advocates more thorough investigations of Medicare fraud; supports reimportation of drugs from Canada.
- Homeland security: Opposes base closures in Florida; advocates maintaining “the strongest military in the world.”
- Religion: Supports free exercise of religion; opposes “removing all public displays of religious devotion” from society.
- Same-sex marriage: Supports an amendment to the United States Constitution to ban same-sex marriage. In June 2006, he is quoted on the matter regarding not amending the Constitution, thus leaving each State to come up with its own laws, “It isn’t good enough to say, ‘Leave it up to the states.’…If we leave it up to the states we will see the erosion of marriage that we’ve seen by activist courts, which we otherwise will not see if we protect the institution of marriage at the federal level,”.
- Second Amendment: Supports the right to bear arms.
- Welfare: Supports Republican-style welfare reforms encouraging personal responsibility; supports programs for job training and retraining
Ok, so he’s for closing down Guantanamo, other than that he seems like a pretty good candidate to bring back some leadership to the GOP. Plus you know how I love minorities in the party, they’re like the place-kicker on a football team; they may win you some games in OT, but they’re always drinking by themselves in the bar afterwards.

We’ve chatting on the phone about this long into the night while curling our hair and giggling…but I’ll state it much clearer here as it won’t be interrupted by the heavy breathing that accompanies our discussions about keeping the poor under our heel (must contend with you comedically).
They don’t listen to their base. They don’t listen to the people who try to keep them in office, and the cheer that errupted through the crowd (especially the blogs) when Steele was floated as a name was enormous…there is nothing exciting about Mel Martinez…he doesn’t make me shout the “huzzah!” Steele does when I see him speak.
I will not being ignored because I’m
-Going there…I mean…Stout Republican.
I’m sure by “huzzah” you meant “woot” but ne’er fear I won’t inform the guild of your slip. I see your point though on the excited factor. That I had to look up his policies despite the fact that he’s been in the game for a while does say something about his lack of being the “mover” and “shaker” that was prophisied long ago to save us from the dark side. But he is here ATM and I like what I found about him, so I say let’s be the ones to hype him.
This has been the problem lately for the GOP, when we don’t get the candidate we want we tear apart the one we’re given. Unite behind Mel! Keep those Jews in check! And get behind that Martinez guy too.

(insert wet fart noise hear)
Those stupid poopy head goppers are self destructing. Rove is a deep cover DNC mole, Kerry was just the distraction in a master bait and switch plan.
It is all part of the plan though, tear yourself down and then you can recreate yourself as new and exciting come next election…ZZZZzzzzz
DNC is doing it2, polarize to the left with Pelosi and Hurtha self destruct and wala you emerge from a stinky chrysalis a new stinky butterfly…ZZZZzzzzz
Get along now little doggies!
Hm Hm Hm, Don’t try to understand’em just rope throw and brand’em Hm Hm Hm

I’d solve such problem with consumption of beer, but it only leads to more attempted political discourse with profanity, followed by “leftists”.
“stupid poopy head goppers” profane?
darn I thought I could get away with the use of poopy…I apologize, I am a shameless recovering profanity user. I am in recovery and have discovered the error of my ways. I am better than I was before. Vote for me…(insert Snidely Whiplash durge here)
btw did you drop the gop a note via info@gop.com letting them know how you feel? I did and suspect that you and many others did as well…write’em up folks!!!

A clever analogy as the place kicker, but fortunately for him: (here goes the racist lefty quote) A minority Republican will never be blamed for the loss. Except, of course, Steele. He failed his party miserably by being who he is.
Ah, who am I kidding. A minority, period, will never be blamed for a loss.
Are Jews minorities?
Yep, the hook nosed bastards are a minority why do you ask?
And the reason Steele lost is that he was black, well sort of…

Ah Going There, I wish you woulda waited until Stout responded. I just wanted to push some Stouty buttons.
I ask if Jews are minorities to be cute and, sadly, a bit truthful. Lieberman’s definitely gonna be a scapegoat everytime he votes Republican.
