Philosophies of Tolerance

November 12th, 2006

I am certain someone can find something in current events to illustrate philosophies of tolerance not mentioned here as being something less than tolerant. Direct evidence linked to cultural level responses and not finger pointing from a different philosophy. Representative(s) A of X philosophy said Y sort of thing… (Individuals or groups of cultural merit speaking intolerantly)

Here are my sources for two philosophies of tolerance I recently found,

Secularist
Islam

Draw your own conclusions. I just find cultural level philosophies to be interesting (in a Chinese sort of way).

Islam, Secularism

Hahaha…classic “Secularist”…damn intolerant people who don’t like what I do…Christians should be banned and burned at the stake. Those Christians always on their witch hunts, I’d like to round them up and throw them into a lake to see if they float. I can’t believe they want to violate my free speech. Someone should tape their mouth closed so no one has to hear their hate.

So logical, so open-minded, so predictably Liberal. “My open-mindedness is the only open-mindedness.”

For the record. I don’t think Secularists should be banned…does that make me, a closed minded conservative, more inclusive than many liberals? Why…yes…yes it does.

Since when did Secularist become synonymous with Liberal? Sounds like some people believe one must be the other.

Going There: Now I know what you meant about being a “semi” anarchist. T’is apparently due to your excrutiating desire to stand up as the “Bipartisan”, “I see both your sides” champion for the supposed majority (Not just the majority for this website, but for the world…I’d imagine).

I guess, with my Secularist, intolerant ways…you’ve abdicated your anarchist throne and left it for me to involuntarily conquer.

    What a semi…

    Sigh…great “point”.

I suppose I’ll never hear you equate Christian with Conservative again…

Whenever I do, Stout, it’s because I’m addressing those that are both.

I hope, for the sake of a “conservative” rooting for Conservatism, that you don’t equate those two either.

Buckley and Goldwater would laugh and cry at the same time if so.

Strange…whenever I address Secularists and Liberals, like in the above posts, I am addressing those that are both…that just weird.

Besides…no where in the original post did Going There pick sides, or make it a political issue…I did that with my severe case of witticism. His post was a cultural one…I didn’t see sides, just an click through link to two tolerant statements.

I was referring to you, not GoingThere on that.

The only inference I ever take away, is your admiration for my humor, charm, and handsome demeanor. For that, amidst all our squabbling, I might have to agree with you.

The lesson for today, “interesting in a Chinese sort of way”. This is a reference to the ancient Chinese curse…”May you have an interesting life”. Very strong words, concepts and intentions condemning someone to the worst life has to offer on all planes of existence.
