Mixed Messages…and I’m Confused.

September 21st, 2006

Nancy Pelosi is actually defending the President:

“Hugo Chavez abused the privilege that he had, speaking at the United Nations, he demeaned himself and he demeaned Venezuela.”

As admirable as this is…it’s also confusing. Here’s what Rangel had to say as is being reported on Drudge.

“You do not come into my country, my congressional district, and you do not condemn my president. If there is any criticism of President Bush, it should be restricted to Americans, whether they voted for him or not. I just want to make it abundantly clear to Hugo Chavez or any other president, do not come to the United States and think because we have problems with our president that any foreigner can come to our country and not think that Americans do not feel offended when you offend our Chief of State.”

Honestly Mr. Rangel, I think most of the left is cheering right along with Chavez…why, it’s “Truth to Power” isn’t it? This is the same Chavez that the Hero of the left, Cindy Sheeeeeeehan praised and praised?

Sheehan made things perfectly clear this evening, flatly stating that she’d rather live under Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez than George Bush.

This is where to confusion is. Every contact Chavez has with those people who are considered Democratic leaders confirms that what he’s saying is okay for him to say publicly and repeatedly. This has to come a serious shock to him, and while I admire the fact Pelosi and Rangel came to the defense of the office of the executive, their consistency is lacking.

When Chavez was at the UN the other day, he carried Noam Chomsky’s book like it was the bible and he was at camp. Everything those on the left in America say and do affirms his belief that he can say what he wants, where he wants, when he wants. I’m surprised the he didn’t bring us the “Little Goat” that we see in all the propaganda films…

But…my brother breaks it down to it’s simplest form.

“When I played basketball in high school, I didn’t like everyone I was on the team with, but if another team talked smack when we were playing, I defended my team first. Oh yeah, and if you’re going to quote me, add that liberal’s still suck.”

Hugo “I am not any different than any other past, present and unfortunately future Latin American dictator” Chavez is the mouse that felched, ooops, did I write felched and not roared? I am SOOOooo sorry, it just blurted off the tips of my fingers!

Ignore him, his 15 minutes of fame as a Pinochet wanna-be will end as it does for every Latin American dictator (hehehe you read dic).

insh’Allah (he is obviously in a real hurry to join his predecessors),

As a liberal, I also praise Pelosi (not that you praise her, God forbid) for her stance. But though Chavez came off as an empty ass that’s somehow full of shit, the applause to his words at the U.N. might resonate ever so slightly despite him. I can’t even guess what that’d mean in any best or worst case scenario. Said applause will leave a wake in some form or another I’m afraid (or optimistic, not sure yet).

Pelosi/Rangel are simply lowly, common opportunists. They love what Hugo had to say and privately chuckle about it, but they couldn’t resist putting on clothes of nobility for their “peeps”. Now all their liberal supporters can point to their words as somehow being respectful to their president and rising in his defense. Rubbish.

I’m surprised how The Man defiant infidel is. To be able to know what others think while most of us struggle to come to even a personal conclusion…that’s just Super! Or lost. But it could be seen as Super.

Defiant Infidel, thank you for being insanely super. Or ridiculously lost. It’s cute.

I want to make sure that I just caught this…to catalog for future reference…you just criticized someone for assuming what others think. I will note this fact and make sure that all future posts by you never assume what others are thinking…just so we keep the playing field fair.

Good for you. I, for one, am happy that you’ll create this goal. But am I to assume that your choice of words is accurate? That you’ll only look for my own assumptions on the thoughts of others rather than anyone’s assumptions on your website?

Like you said, let’s keep the playing field fair.

Yep, only yours. I’m not here to apply your rules to everyone, just to make sure that the rules you apply, you adhere to. If someone else wants to make ass-u-mptions they can, because they haven’t called people names for doing so yet, it once they criticize someone for a methodology that they’ll be held accountable to it.

The crux of this is I will assume Democrats still want to raise my taxes and eat babies…even though I don’t know about the baby part for sure.

P.R. said something and on face value it appeared profound, yet sarcastic and superficial. WTF might it actually mean? If only I had the time to search for the substance. I found the obligatory Liberal personal insult though. When all else fails, huh? What a deep well.

You know, DI, you’re right. I took the low ground and I apologize. If someone has a point to make, if someone thinks they have a point to make, they should know that it’s canceled out by any hollow, shallow labels they add to it. I’m sorry on numerous levels.
