Regroup and Rearm

August 14th, 2006

I’ve been thinking about the logical conclusion to this “ceasefire”, and I’m conflicted.  I feel the Defiant Infidel sentiments sneaking into my brain…but the sins of the leaders shouldn’t extend to the Israeli people…and they’re big sins right now.

As Hezbollah declares victory…after being bailed out of a war where they were outgunned, out-thought (obviously), and outmanned in general, all I can do is sit here slack jawed.  Israel agreed to defeat…the teacher stepped in, and pulled Israel off of the battered and bloody bully, who finally got his comeuppance for the years of picking and picking while the rest of the apologetic “parent” community said “boys will be boys.”

Powerline has an analysis of two sides of the story:

Israel the winner.

Israel the loser.

The question I have…what now?

Regroup and rearm

While Israel and Lebanon have their cities in ruin, Hezbollah claims victory, and they’re not responsible for picking up the tab for any of it.  They lost men who were willing to kill themselves anyways…they gained legitimacy.  I don’t think the UN really knows what they’ve managed to achieve by giving credence to this terrorist organization like they’re a mature government that needs to be reasoned with.  Now they wait, they regroup and stockpile more and better weapons, and continue to strengthen relationships with those groups and governments that have a common cause.  By Israel retaliating, as they should have, and not finishing the job, they gave Iran and Syria the excuse that they needed to fund, and send soldiers to, Hezbollah.  Lebanon loses as well…crippled by the enemy within, their broken cities are going to remain the homes of the worst of the worst, the Islamic Fascists who have no problem hiding behind their children.

“D.I. sentiments sneaking into” your brain, eh, Stouty? OK, I’m a bad influence, indeed!

You are more calm and reasonable about this than I am being, and I highly respect that. But it just erks the crap out of me that Olmert would do this! The last I read, 68% of the Israeli population STILL back war against Hezbollah. How must the families of the young Israeli soldiers who lost their lives in this fight feel? How will those and other families feel after tomorrow’s tomorrow dawns with new kidnappings, new rockets raining down on their cities and citizenry? What a tragic, needless, unforgivable waste of effort and lives!

They have shamed themselves, proven themselves weak and bereft of resolve to do what MUST eventually be done. And make no mistake, it will be harder to accomplish and ten times bloodier when that time comes. Perhaps next time the Hezbo rockets will have chemical warheads, or even Iranian supplied nukes. Then there will be no retaliation or chance to “fix” this mistake because there will be no Israel.

It might be slightly less bitter if Hezbollah wasn’t declaring (validly) a victory. But it is just that! Their status amongst Jihadis has been dramatically raised and the terrorist recruiting machine emboldened. Not only have they been allowed to remain, but they have been enormously strengthened. Israel would have been infinetly better off to do NOTHING. Or to have swapped terrorists from their jails for their kidnapped victims, as much as that practice is abhorrent.

Worse yet, since Jorge and Condi not only endorsed the French sourced appeasement plan but helped stitch it too, Hezbollah and terrorists everywhere now witness compelling weakness on our part too. Iran and Syria have initiated, sponsored and supported this attack and now they see the success in their plan. This is surely exactly as they forecast it.

They were right. Now it is history… FACT! It is and will be fact to be referred to when lifting their next foot up the escalation staircase.

It is the Liberal effect in purest form. Years and years of “elitist civility” and PC garbage has steadily transformed our collective spine to mush. Phrases such as the “will of the international community” permeate the entire dialog! Sickening.

So when we are the last island of humanity on Earth and these beasts are descending upon us, will we have finally grown the gonads to defend ourselves? Worse, will it be too late by then anyway?

Sorry to rant so in your comments section. It is very disappointing and upsetting. This is real and damn few people in power seem to see it.

People in power see it, but as you said, they don’t have the “Gonads” to confront the reality of the situation…like any other liberal issue, why make a plan to deal with the long term implications when you can crank something out that puts scotch tape on the shotgun blast…looks like the bleeding has stopped, but the damage still exists…hey, as long as they can parade it as a political success and it helps them win elections, then why bother dealing with the complicated surgery that a shotgun blast requires…better yet…why not go after the person who pulled the trigger! I’m agitated at this, don’t get me wrong, but I feel more sorry for the Israeli people (notoriously liberal) who have been pushed to the point that they support a war that their government doesn’t have the testicular fortitude to finish when they had the chance.

I was listening to Chris Matthews (I know…I’m sorry) on my XM today…and I’ve never heard a man gloat so much in the defeat of a country. So quick to call Israel’s war their war that we need to stay out of, until it’s over, and then promptly place blame of the military loss on us…instead of placing the blame on us that we deserve…the fact that we’ve become the nation of appeasement, willing to negotiate with terrorists, not only for ourselves, but proxy negotiate for our allies.
