Corruption in San Jose
The rule of thumb is always innocent until proven guilty. However in politics, perception is one of the driving forces. When Tom Delay was being investigated, the rules of Congress required that he leave his post as leader. So why are the Republican’s the one who suffer due to this “Culture of Corruption”?
Reported in the Orange County register (the local paper here in Huntington Beach, CA), a “rising star” in the Democratic party has just been snubbed. The Mayor of San Jose, Ron Gonzales, was apparently indicted today for secretly negotiating a contract with Norcal Waste. The charges include bribery and conspiracy. The article states that the agreement cost the taxpayers 11 million dollars. San Jose is the 10th largest city in California, which in itself is one of the largest Economic entities in the world. Of course, Mayor Gonzales refuses to resign, saying that these are trumped up charges by the DA. In his statement he says that resignation in the face of false accusations would “break faith” with the city’s residents. Obviously, he hasn’t been reading the paper.
I understand that politicians are going to be dirty on both sides, Lord knows we have Cunningham to thank, but why is it we have been saddled with the “culture of corruption”, when it seems that the left has a near monopoly on unethical behavior. See Judicial Watch and details on scandals here, here, here, and here. Nah….no culture of corruption on the left.
