Generally Accepted Myths
Peter Wehner has a great article today on Opinion Journal. I wish he was more aggressive in pointing out how the Democrats were in line with the President’s thinking. Never before have I seen any political group with total lack of accountability. Regardless of all of the Independent investigations and reports, we have to remember that the results aren’t what’s important…there mere accusation themselves are what causes guilt in Washington. If the Democrats say that the President lied, well, then the President must have lied, why look, Ted Kennedy is saying the same thing, so it must be true. Ignoring the past decisions of the Clinton era, the Democrats charge ahead, blind with hatred, intent on rewriting the past. The problem however isn’t that Clinton lied, or the Senate Intelligence committee lied, or that Hillary, Kennedy, Kerry and others lied…it’s okay to the defer the brunt of bad intelligence to the President on that one, even though such statements were made before Bush was even in office, the problem is that what Democratic leadership tells us is that they are not responsible for their decisions, not accountable for their mistakes or statements, and generally unable to lead in the face of adversity…period. That’s what they’re telling us right? I give the floor to Ted Kennedy now:
“There is no doubt that Saddam Hussein’s regime is a serious danger, that he is a tyrant, and that his pursuit of lethal weapons of mass destruction cannot be tolerated. He must be disarmed.” — Ted Kennedy, Sept 27, 2002
